How It All Began
In one of their casual get-togethers late December 2011, a group of artists and media friends in Sydney were moved by the devastation of Typhoon Washi (Sendong) in the Southern Philippines. They felt compelled to unite and use their skills, talents and whatever resources they have to generate funds to assist in the rebuilding of Iligan City and Cagayan De Oro. The group is now calling itself, the "Artists and Linked Friends in Action" or ALFA team.
The initial plan was to compose a group song and do a concert but this later evolved to a CD release after considering time constraints, resources and other on-going activities in the community. Then a talented Sydney-based composer in the ALFA team has been tasked to compose 10 - 15 songs which he had to do in 2 weeks time. In spite of the heavy schedule of the rest of the team members due to other commitments, they had acted quickly to organise the production, sponsorship and marketing of the project. Musicians have been screened, selected and scheduled for recording in a short period of 2 weeks as the aim is for the whole project (CD production and launch) to be completed in two months time. With the outpouring of energy, passion and dedication, the team is optimistic that this collaboration of "ALFA" would resonate the message that "we are ONE in many ways".
An album was inspired by compassion and generosity to which the concept evolves around Love, Hope and Faith. This is the "first CD launch dedicated to charity, also promoting multiculturalism, featuring all-original songs of various genre" composed by a Sydney-based Filipino Australian artist. Let's celebrate life as ONE and rather than destroying each other, we should draw strength from ONE another through the magic of music.
